Day 11-Monticello

Monticello-My favorite visit of all the museum type things we did. I learned so much! Jefferson was an absolute genius. Brilliant! A farmer!

Jefferson is buried on the lower land near the house with many of his relatives. He wrote his own epitaph.

Day 10-Williamsburg

Day 10-We went to Williamsburg to see how things went 150 years later! This woman is talking about what it was like to be a slave during this time.

This woman is chopping garlic. Evidently they thought if you mixed garlic with lard it cured whooping cough if you applied it to your feet.

This is a woman working in a brick works. She is making bricks.

These are seamstresses. They are sewing towels, and dresses.

This man is making shoes and boots.

This is a woodworker. He is building tables, cabinets, and even musical instruments.

A black woman reciting the Declaration of Independence. Several different types of townspeople helped to recite and act out different points in the separation of America from England.

After we finished we went to the Green Vine for lunch. This restaurant was next door to our hotel. We had Red Hook Shrimp.
